Pinspired tag

Here's the Pinspired Challenge #3 inspiration photo:

When I saw that this week's Sponsor is Sweet Stamp Shop, I just knew I had to play along.  It just so happens that I have a SSS stamp set with these cute candy jars on it, just like in the inspiration photo!  I made this gift tag by fussy cutting the stamped images. I even popped up the center image with foam squares. A little washi tape to kind of ground the images, a brad for some bling and vintage seam binding finish it off.

Tuning in

I made this card for the Two Peas Winterfest 2013 stamping event also, the challenge was to use two types of masking, regular and mortise.  It just so happens to use black, white and yellow so it's my second entry at  CAS-ual Fridays this week.

To make it, I first stamped the TV image, then masked around the TV screen (mortise masking). I then stamped a chevron background stamp on the TV screen to look like a television out of tune. Next I stamped the TV on scrap paper and cut it out, then placed this over the whole TV set to mask it (regular masking). Finally I stamped my sentiment by inking it once, and stamping it 5 times (gradient stamping).  The idea is that the sentiment is slowly coming into focus. Clever, right?  Well, I thought so, at least.  I had tons of fun making it, and what I love about masking is that you really have to plan out what you do before you do it.

Patterned paper: Cosmo Cricket Twenty-Three
Yellow Cord: Lawn Fawn
TV and sentiment stamps: Lawn Fawn
Chevron stamp: Unity Stamp Company

Bee your best

I've got a cute little card I made this week with 2 different challenges in mind.  Members over on the Two Peas General Stamping Forum hold a couple of stamping events each year, with challenges created by the members.  One challenge was to make a scene using stamps.  Since I don't really own any traditional scenic stamps, I made a simple black and white scene with some pops of yellow. And that worked out just perfectly because the challenge at CAS-ual Fridays this week is to use black and white plus one other color (keeping it CAS - Clean and Simple).

Patterned paper: Pink Paislee "She Art"
Flower stamps: Unity Stamp Company
Fence, bee and sentiment stamps: Fresh Squeezed Stamps
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black and Dandelion

Stay tuned (ha!) because I have one more card to share in my next post.

S.W.A.T. Drill #2 - Sketch

ATTENTION!

Time for S.W.A.T. Drill #2!  This time we have a sketch by our very own Jenessa Franco.

I thought I'd try the sketch out on a card, instead of a layout.  I pulled out these cute coffee cup stamps in my stash and realized they'd work great in place of the photos on the sketch.  I stamped the coffee cups on patterned papers and cut the images out, then popped them up with foam squares on top of the card base.  A little bit of plum seam binding tied in a bow, and a button finish it off.

Patterned papers: AC Dear Lizzy
Cardstock base: Bazzill
Stamps: Unity Stamp Company
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Seam binding and jute twine: May Art
Button: My Mind's Eye

You have until February 25th to complete your project and link it up at S.W.A.T.

Check out the prize you are playing for this time:
Thanks for stopping by today!

Classroom Valentines

I finally came up with an idea for some small, classroom-sized Valentines for my daughter's class. I'm currently enrolled in the Clean & Simple Card Making 2 class, and on day one they asked us to use one of the card sketches provided for our 'homework'. So these little 3" x 4" valentines are based on one of the sketches. I had tons of fun making them, I hope the kids have fun exchanging and opening their valentines!

Cardstock base: Bazzill
Patterned paper: Echo Park 'Yours truly'
Heart stamp: Impression Obsession
Sentiment: Fresh Squeezed Stamps

Santa and Warmest wishes

Here's the layout I made for the ScrapbookSteals Mid-Week Mojo sketch this week (Jade #8).

Patterned papers - Lawn Fawn and Pebbles
Stickers - My Mind's Eye
Flair - Bluebird Chic
Washi tape - WRMK
Title - American Crafts, Fancy Pants and Jillibean Soup

I then took the supplies I already had out and made a card with a Studio Calico sketch. I'm playing along again at The Paper Girls Challenge Blog, so I added some twine as a final detail to the card.

S.W.A.T. Drill #1 - All About You!

We are starting our very first challenge today over at S.W.A.T! Create a layout that's "All About You". Easy peasy! Won't you join us and become a Scrap Warrior? You have until February 25th to complete and link up your layout here.

Now, I know I said this was an easy challenge, but it was actually really hard for me. Every single one of my scrapbook layouts is about my daughter. I didn't even know where to begin with a layout about myself. I thought it over, and I noticed that lots of people were doing layouts at the start of the year about their 2013 goals. I don't usually make New Year's resolutions, but decided to make some scrappy goals and then document them on a layout.

All products are from the Studio Calico 34th Street Scrapbook Kit and add-on kits.
I especially love these Heidi Swapp Color Magic numbers, I just inked them up with some Colorbox chalk ink to match my color scheme.

Love the vellum arrows that were in the kit too!

Want to hear more about my goals?
  1. Use my paper stash - Oh, how I love me some pretty paper! I've got a ton of it, though, so I'm going to make it through 2013 without buying any paper. Notice that I didn't commit to no embellies or no tools, however. It's gotta be an achievable goal.
  2. Take 2 online classes - I'm currently taking this wonderful class: Clean and Simple Card Making 2.
  3. Blog once a week - This blog is brand new for me, so I want to make sure I keep up with it.
  4. Create layouts without using sketches - I'm still using plenty of sketches, just trying to branch out more and find my own layout style. Happy to report that today's layout is my own design.
  5. Take more photos - I especially need more photos of my whole family together.
Now, get going on your own layouts so I can start getting to know you all!

    Sweet Baby card

There's a challenge at scrapbook.com to create a card using only plain cardstock, brads and rub-ons. When searching through my stash of rub-ons, I found this one by MME. It's meant to be used as a title, but I don't have any baby boy scrapbook pages to make, so thought I'd try to make a card from it.

It's about 6-inches wide, so to fit it on to a standard A2 card, I cut it up into 3 pieces and arranged the rub-on pieces like this:

I'm quite happy with how it turned out.  I don't really see a good spot to add any brads, since I've already got those circles, so I'll just stick with the cardstock and rub-ons.

The theme and colors in the card also fit perfectly with the Monday Craft Madness #11 challenge at scrapbooksteals.com which is to use the theme of "Baby Blues" on a project. Thanks for looking!
