Squeeze-A-Palooza #8

It's Squeeze-A-Palooza time at Fresh Squeezed Stamps, and the theme is Summer.

I made this card, just layering up some paper and embellies, and simply stamping the Fresh Squeezed Stamp sentiment to pull it all together. Now if you like my card, you should head over to this post and VOTE!

I'm also entering this card into the ScrapbookSteals.com Monday Craft Madness #25 challenge to use Layering. You've got until May 31st to play along with both challenges!

Too much reading is good & DT calls

I finally got a smart phone. My little prepaid phone just wasn't cutting it anymore with constant dropped calls. I think the phone companies do it on purpose, drop the cheap phone calls so they can get you to buy a nice phone and lock you into a 2 year contract. Well, it worked. And I tell you I toughed it out for a long time. Anyways, the smart phone (let me just say it, my awesome iPhone 5) has some added perks that I didn't fully appreciate - namely the camera.  I am so loving that I can take photos whenever and wherever, without planning ahead. These are the first photos I printed, check out how well they turned out!

So I actually own library-themed paper, it's a 6x6 pad of Lawn Fawn 'Dewey Decimal', so I just used a few sheets, picking out the color scheme I wanted to concentrate on, and layered them on top of each other - no cutting! Then my next favorite part of this layout is that I finally found a use for this MME 'Stella & Rose' lamp! I'm hoping it looks like a reading lamp.

The title came from Rochelle Spears's May blog challenge to choose from particular phrases, and then the challenge at Scrap Your Story is to use mixed fonts in you title. That's the way I like to do longer titles anyways! Finally, I'll link this up at Two Peas for their Scrap Your Stash challenge to use 3 elements: washi, patterned paper and letter stickers.
 Patterned paper: Lawn Fawn
Washi tape: My Mind's Eye
Stickers: Crate Paper, Carta Bella, My Mind's Eye
Letter Stickers: American Crafts, Jillibean Soup
Stamp: Technique Tuesday
Ink: Memento

Other news to share, there are 2 awesome design team calls going on right now that you should check out:

Sweet Stamp Shop is looking for stampers to be part of a 3-month Design Team. I've really enjoyed doing a couple of 1-month DT stints with them. I promise you will love working with Nicole, too, so get that application in!

S.W.A.T. is looking to add to their Design Team, the term is for 6 months, only 2 projects a month, and all the projects are given to you up front, so you can plan ahead. Great group of ladies, and fun challenges! http://swatscrapwarriorsadvancedtraining.blogspot.com/2013/05/design-team-call.html

Genius!

I saw this Artful Delight card sketch and thought a simple stamped card was in order.

Stamps are from Sweet Stamp Shop 'Chemistry', ink is Memento Tuxedo Black, and I colored one of the light bulbs with one of my American Crafts Stamp Markers. (color: Sunflower)
 Have a great evening!

Happy Birthday!

The Pinspired Challenge blog has inspired me again. Here's the pin this week:

That's a lot of color, so to tone it down to fit my own style better, I stamped on white cardstock, and kept the design simple. I wouldn't normally pair up orange and this bright pink, but it totally works, that's the great thing about challenges like this! I added some gold trim to bling the card up a little bit.

The CFC101 challenge at CAS-ual Fridays this week is to stamp on designer paper, so I'm also entering this card there, since I stamped and then fussy cut the images.  Thanks for stopping by today!

Stamps: Unity Stamp Co.

S.W.A.T. Drill #8 - Sketch by Becci Manies

We've got another sketch for you up at S.W.A.T. this month! This one is by Becci Manies. At first I was a little scared to try it, but it turned out to be one of my favorite layouts.

Here's the sketch:

Here's my layout. I used chipboard speech bubbles in place of the smaller photos in the sketch, and I kind of used stickers to show what was going on so decided it didn't need any journaling. Everything but the washi was from my Studio Calico Kits.

Thanks for stopping by, and remember to link up at S.W.A.T. by May 28th for a chance to win this prize!

Antler Arches

This was a fun layout to make. I love this sketch at Scrap Our Stash so gave it a try:

The other SOS challenge requirement is to use at least 3 pre-made flowers from my stash, so I pulled out my BasicGrey Bloomers - I have tons of these sweet fabric flowers but have used them on very few projects. Perfect for the challenge at hand. I let the flower colors dictate the layout colors, and it all came together nicely with pieces of my December Studio Calico kits.

Since I'm using up old flowers from my stash, I also wanted to participate in the brand new challenge at Sweet Stamp Shop to Use what you have!. So I pulled out my SSS stamps, using them to decorate the white journal card pocket (Today Was) and add some arrows (Chalkboard Sign).

I forgot to take a pic of the flowers before sticking them on the layout, but here's a pic of some of the rest of the Bloomer stash:

And here's my layout:

NSD layout

There are so many National Scrapbooking Day challenges out there, it is so overwhelming! But, I found a few to try out and I've got a layout to share that combines a few challenges.

  • I used a sketch over at BasicGrey (and used some BG buttons!)
  • The Paper Girls inspired me to doodle on my layout, which added the perfect detail, I think!
  • And finally Scrap Our Stash has their regular monthly challenge up, this time it's to use 3 or more patterned papers from 3 or more collections, plus rub-ons (the words 'Love' and 'June' are rub-ons)

Patterned papers: Carta Bella "True Friends", Authentique "Splendid", Jillibean Soup "Pasta Fagioli"
Letter stickers: Carta Bella
Buttons: BasicGrey, Doodlebug
Twine: May Arts
Rub-ons: American Crafts, Making Memories

Sweet Spotlight with Sweet Stamp Shop

I'm on the Sweet Stamp Shop blog today with some projects using the new stamp set, "Drops Background".  All my projects today use the circle drops. If you'd like to see how I used the heart drops, check out my post here: http://about-the-paper.blogspot.com/2013/04/sweet-stamp-shop-april-release.html

First, I've got a colorful birthday card. I used my American Crafts Stamp Markers to color individual circles on the stamp, then stamped on white cardstock. I repeated on the other side to fill up the card front then added stickers and rhinestones.

Next, I've got a little gift box. I don't own any kind of die cutting machine to make my own boxes. So I just stamped different colors on to white cardstock, and trimmed it to cover the sides of this box. Some ribbon, a tag (made with the Packaged Pretty set) and rhinestones finish it off!

Along the same lines as the gift box, I made a couple of tags just by stamping the circle drops on white tags, and finishing off with stickers and ribbon. Super easy, and I love how cute and bright they are!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!

S.W.A.T. Drill #7

We have a tic-tac-toe challenge for you at S.W.A.T. this month.  You need to choose a row that goes across, down or diagonal, and incorporate those elements on your project.
I used the 3rd row across:
  1. 3 manufacturers (or more!) - See my list of supplies below, I think I used 9 of them!
  2. Mist/Paint - I used some Mr. Huey's where I placed embelishments. I first spritzed it on, then wanted to add some larger drops. Well, that's where I had a happy accident. The top was leaking a little, so I ended up with big drops all over the place! That's ok, it looks perfectly imperfect, as one of my scrappy friends would say.
  3. Chipboard -I've got a few chipboard stickers on there.
The layout is based on a sketch over at Scrapbook.com, check out their monthly kit challenges if you haven't yet!

Patterned paper: Crate Paper, American Crafts, Simple Stories
Chipboard stickers: Crate Paper
Wood veneer: Studio Calico
Vellum arrows: Studio Calico
Buttons: Bella Blvd
Washi tape: from my stash
Label sticker: My Mind's Eye
Cutout "Hanging out and relaxing": Authentique
Small letter stickers: Authentique
Large letter stickers: Cosmo Cricket
Mist: Studio Calico

You have until May 28th to link up your entry. Hope you have as much fun with the challenge as I did!

Pinspired Challenge #8

Check out the pretty inspiration photo for Pinspired Challenge #8:

I love that minty green color, so took a look at what I've got in my stash and decided to make this mini card, it's 3"x3":

The blocks of color in the patterned paper reminded me of the cake layers in the picture. Yummy colors, don't you think?

Patterned paper: October Afternoon
Cardstock base: Bazzill
Heart: Heidi Swapp
Inks: Memento and Colorbox
Love Sentiment: Sweet Stamp Shop
Rhinestones: Creative Charms
