Mood Board Inspiration

Check out this fabulous mood board at Two Peas in a Bucket for the month of January:

I created my own kit from the colors:

And then used this sketch from Paper Bakery Sketch Challenge #18 to create a layout (I rotated the sketch):

I love how it turned out! Working with these soft colors was a lot of fun, and I usually go for brights. I've also come to realize that my favorite projects are the ones where I can combine elements from a lot of different collections and manufacturers.  This layout has a lot of My Mind's Eye on it, but also some Authentique, Studio Calico, American Crafts, Fancy Pants, and a flair button from Bluebird Chic.  I was able to add some stamping. I used Memento black ink, and first stamped off onto a scrap piece of paper, then stamped on my layout. This created a softer look which was perfect for this layout.

I stamped directly on the letters of the word "ART":
And a little stamping in the corner:

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Happy Birthday, The Alley Way Stamps!

The Alley Way Stamps is celebrating their 3rd birthday this month, so here's a birthday card to enter in their Birthday Card Challenge!

I paper pieced the little striped star from the "Learning Curve" stamp set and set them on a black background. I added some glitter glue to the stars, and while I like the added sparkle, the glitter kind of muted the bright colors. Oh well. It's still a fun card that I'll send out to one of my nieces or nephews for their birthday!

January challenges

I've done quite a bit of scrapping in 2014 already (6 layouts in 4 days, WHAT!?!)…  I've just been very lazy about blogging lately.  Let me share a couple layouts today and start to get caught up with that.

This one was inspired by the current sketch/challenge at Paper Secrets. In addition to the sketch, I needed to use the letters in the word PARTY for the different page elements.

The elements I used were:
P - Polka Dots
A - Arrow
R - Rose-colored embellies (buttons, clip)
T - Thickers
Y - Yellow

Next, I used a fun collection, Echo Park's "Winter Wishes". I got a great deal at the Echo Park warehouse sale a couple months ago, the whole collection pack was only $3, yay!

My layout is inspired by the Scrappy Friends challenge (Kristi B) to use one of these words in my title (I used 'winter'):

And also the Scrap Our Stash Countdown challenge (Stash Challenge #11).

My countdown elements are:
5 - black diamond gems
4 - stickers
3 - patterned papers
2 - photos
1 - rub-on (the word 'january' in white is a rub-on)

All really fun challenges, maybe they will inspire you too!

Peaceful Snowflakes

I've noticed that the end of 2013 and beginning of 2014 are bringing some changes to my favorite challenge blogs. One that I've really enjoyed is Pinspired Challenges. Here's their very last inspiration photo for Challenge #24:

And here is the card that it inspired me to make:

Supplies:
Stamps: Unity Stamp Co.
Ink: Hero Arts

Best of luck to all of the Pinspired ladies, thanks for all of the challenges, prizes, and inspiration in 2013!
